IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT your presentation, poster and rapid-fire talks

Platform Presentation Session

For each session, presenters will have a maximum of 12 minutes for their slide presentation with an additional 3 minutes allotted for discussion for a strict total of 15 minutes. Please ensure you do not run overtime with your presentation as this will limit time for discussion.

 Guidelines

  • Please prepare your talk using Microsoft PowerPoint.
  • Please email your presentation to Rachael at mndaustralia@somersetevents.com.au no later than the 13th of November 2023

Poster Session

Posters will be displayed for both days during the conference. Poster presenters are expected to be present during their Poster Session to discuss the poster and answer any questions from other delegates.

For Poster presentations please follow the guidelines below:

  • Posters are to be A0 size (1189mm x 841mm) portrait format.
  • Posters will be examined based upon the following criteria:
    • Clear and effective title that describes the research.
    • Concise and informative introduction.
    • Clearly stated hypothesis and aims.
    • Effective visual communication of methods and results.
    • Conclusions are concise and not overly embellished.

Digital Submission Requirements
Poster presenters must provide an A4-sized PDF version of their poster, to be uploaded onto the MND Australia conference website. Please submit your A4 PDF to mndaustralia@somersetevents.com.au, by no later than 6th November 2023. Please ensure that your poster file is resized to A4, to make the file size manageable for digital upload. If you have created your poster in digital layers, make sure the image is flattened prior to saving the PDF version to further reduce file size.

Image Permissions and Acknowledgements
It is the responsibility of the poster authors to ensure that permission has been granted for all images used and that the source of any such images is acknowledged.

Set Up and Pack Down

Set up

Please deliver your poster to the Registration Desk upon your arrival to the conference. The conference staff will hang your poster for you.

Pack Down

Your poster will be available for collection from the Registration Desk on Saturday 18th November 2023. Any posters not collected by the end of the conference will be discarded. Collection of posters is the responsibility of the author, and no responsibility can be accepted by the organisers for the safekeeping of posters.

Rapid Fire Talks

For Rapid Research presentations, delegates are asked to prepare a short talk in addition to a poster presentation.

There will be a strict 3-minute limit on all rapid-research talks. It is anticipated discussion will take place at the poster session directly following the rapid-fire talks. If talks run longer than 3 minutes the Chair will intervene. Speakers are asked to prepare talks using Microsoft PowerPoint and should structure their talks around 2 slides, which should take the form of a context/significance/introduction slide and a results/conclusion slide. Please see guidelines below for more information on poster design.
